South Africa Part 2

Cape Town
Quintessential town, with waterfront, shopping malls and restaurants overlooking the ocean or the famous table mountain . Everybody speaks english , the toilets are cleaner even than some of Singapore’s toilets (!!)  But we are told not to walk back to the hotel at night, even though it looks so peaceful.

Table Mountain, clouds in the air.

But every town has it’s slum.

Cape of Good Hope , Garden Route – where the 2 oceans meet and the pengiuns played !

This is indeed a fabulous ocean view, with the waves splashing against the cliff and the wind blowing against you !  In fact, we took our shoes off and had a run at the ocean side…

 Hermanus – Shark Diving
Trip ended with a big bang ! – weather was bad in the last few days, but on the day when we are to do shark diving, the sky cleared and sun came out .. we went out to the sea, wore the wet suit, lugged 10kg of weight and went into the cage. It’s not really diving per se.  We were above the water in the cage and when the sharks come in, the crew will shout”down” “down” we would take a deep breath and went down into the sea.
I saw some nice sharks swimming round the cage with the jaws wide open
Unfortunately, I had a bad dose of sea-sickness while on the boat, vomited a few times and miss some action pack when the shark banged against the cages !

This is a trip with adventure, excitement, scenic, exploration,   something I’ll not forget in a long time..

My adventure trip to S Africa - Part 1

We took one year to plan this trip. Started talking about this in May 2013 , and in September  2013, we made our first deposit to the local agent.

Africa is not what I expected. “ I came with no expectataion but you wow me” ( quoted by my travel mate)

Victoria Falls

We hiked on both the Zimba and Zimbabwee side of the waterfalls. The Zimbabwee waterfalls was volumous, it’s not blocked by trees like the Zimbia side. Except for the waterspray from the falls, you can view to the far sight of the falls.  As we hiked, we saw rainbows everywhere. At Rainbow Point, we walked through a path of rocks, turned round the corner and saw a bright rainbow arch that amazed us so much that we paused to face the water and took lots of photos.

Being on a tour, you just want to try everything – we did the micro lite flight --- mini flight with 2 persons , over the Victoria falls and the River.

Safari

We went Kurger Park, which is government park and we drove in a normal car on the roads. We are not allowed to drive through the bushes to hunt for the animals . I thought it was pretty exciting especially we saw animals crossing the roads. In fact, we saw a family of 4 HUGE elephants crossed the road. It’s almost 2-story high . Kruger Park is nothing like the private reserves tho. We stayed on the private reserve for 2 days and went on  4x4 open top jeep and drove through the bushes to hunt for them.  We  hunted for the animals in the early mornings and nights  !  Elephants , lions, buffalos were so close to us that we can pet them if we stretch our arms !

We saw the Big 5 ; the most difficult one, leopard on our last day !

The lodge , with the mosquito net… we had a huge bathtub, outdoor showers, indoor showers, of course I tried them all J
